After passing my first aid course I thought it was important to have a portable first aid kit which I could carry around with me at all times. The one in the photo I bought as a complete kit from Amazon, but you can buy them from other places, or if you wish, make your own by buying the items seperately. The items required for your kit are essentially the same as those you would have for a regular first aid kit, but you need to ensure the dressings are non adhesive to prevent them sticking to your pets fur. One important additional item for your kit is a tick remover. Ticks spread lyme disease, so it is vital that any ticks which attach themselves to your pet must be removed properly without leaving the mouth parts still stuck beneath the skin. The tick needs to be levered out of the skin, and a tick remover is the best way to achieve this. A first aid kit and tick remover provide real peace of mind without breaking the bank. My second post of the day but I felt I had to mention the person responsible for making Angus look so damn good.
So a big thank you to Sharon of The V.I.P Pooch Grooming Salon. https://m.facebook.com/TheVipGroomingSalon/ Completed my pet first aid course.
I feel much more confident that i will be able to deal with any emergency now. Remember that although medical emergencies are rare, and knowledge of first aid cannot replace the skills of a trained vet, a basic knowledge of first aid could prove vital in those precious minutes before you get professional help for you pet. So my website finally went live today.
Hopefully from now on i will have plenty more four legged friends to tell you all about. :) A reminder to all four legged furry friend owners. The microchip law comes into effect on April 6th. Finally started on Monday with my first client, the wonderful Busby.
He is a young British Bulldog with bags of character, even if he doesn't like his harness very much. I'm sure we will continue to be great friends. |
